TRENCH COAT

JR finds Annie hanging mistletoe in the Chandler mansion. She announces she has an early holiday present for him and orders him to open her trench coat, revealing a dress made entirely of gift wrap and tape! The doorbell rings and JR says it's Marissa. He grabs the mistletoe and kicks Annie out of the house. Her "dress" is pretty; they'll "unwrap" later! Marissa walks in and is unsettled as JR wants to celebrate the holiday together—a real family holiday. He shows her a small glass house ornament that they had helped AJ make last year. JR admits he took it to chemo with him and that he survived because of Marissa. JR then smoothly moves into some heavy reminiscing, which tugs on Marissa's heartstrings. She changes the subject to ask how JR would like to divide AJ's time on Christmas, noting that she can't trust JR. As Annie walks in, Marissa agrees to spend a little bit of time with both JR and AJ on Christmas. Grateful JR hugs her, which doesn't make Annie too happy. Annie insists she is here to talk business as Marissa gets a phone call. She is really happy to hear from the other person and leaves. Inside JR gets snippy with Annie for returning early; she could've cost him any progress he made with Marissa!
